What kind of social institution is the government? How is it different from others? Are all governmental laws and orders backed up by physical force and therefore essentially forceful?

What is the proper function of government? Should the government protect all peaceful citizens against people that want to violate their property rights such as armed robbers that want to use physical force to extract money from them?

Should the government redistribute its citizens wealth by forcefully taking money from some citizens through taxes in order to provide goods and services for others? Is it always morally wrong to extract money by threat of force from a peaceful unconsenting adult?

Is all legitimate governmental power derived from the people? Is our Constitution and the Declaration of Independence based on the proposition that the people are the source of all legitimate governmental power.(the Constitution -We the people-to secure the blessings liberty, the Declaration of Independence -deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed)
