Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi - Complete Interview

Speaker Nancy Pelosi argued against any attempt to consider the consequences of an increase in the minimum wage to marginal workers or the needs of the consumers. At first, she denied the employer would have to lay off all those workers who produce an economic value of less than the minimum wage. Later, she accepted these workers would have to be laid off but said they could get other jobs. When asked what would happen to these workers if they could not find another job, she refused to answer.

However, Pelosi denied her "moral responsibility" for a living wage when she acts as an employer for her congressional interns. She admitted that she refuses to pay anything at all to some of her congressional interns. In a blatant double standard, she said she would prosecute any private enterprise that proceeded as she does with her interns.

When asked why the volunteer could not be permitted to decide for himself for whom to volunteer, she refused to answer, and warned the interviewer that he had made a mistake by interviewing her. When asked what the mistake was, she called the guard.
